Meet Our Team
David Griggs is a passionate advocate for scholastic esports and brings nearly a decade of experience in education to his role as co-founder and vice chair of SCSE. Currently a high school math and computer science teacher at Summerville High School, David has been instrumental in developing and leading the school's esports program since its inception two years ago.
With a lifelong love of video games, David has a diverse background in competitive gaming and streaming, with experience ranging from Pokemon to League of Legends. He currently teaches AP Statistics and AP CS Principles, bringing his passion for technology and education together in the classroom.
When he's not shaping the future of scholastic esports or guiding students through the complexities of AP coursework, David enjoys staying active by playing disc golf and pickleball.
Ryan Panter is currently the Assistant Director of Career and Technical Education for LExington School District One in Lexington SC. On top of that, Ryan is the current Executive Director and co-founder of South Carolina Scholastic Esports. As an educator for over 20 years, Ryan Panter has been a teacher and administrator in the Upstate and Midlands areas of South Carolina. He brings a unique blend of experience from both the video game business and education worlds. Ryan leads SCSE’s mission to create a thriving and inclusive esports community that empowers students to develop essential skills, pursue their passions, and compete at the highest levels. With a deep passion for gaming and a commitment to positive social impact, Ryan focuses on building partnerships with schools, community organizations, and industry leaders to provide equitable access to esports programs in South Carolina. Ryan is a father of two and an avid gamer.
Tylor is a CTE teacher for Electrical trades, He coaches Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, Rocket League, Valorant and Overwatch 2 for Lexington One School District’s esports team. With many years of playing competitive games, he looks forward to helping grow the game.
Spencer Sandoval is a high school teacher for Web Design and Game Design, and loves to encourage students to explore aspects of design, development, and the latest and greatest industry trends. He also coaches the Super Smash Brothers Ultimate league of the Lexington One School District's esports team, which gives him the amazing opportunity of combining teaching and gaming, his favorite hobby.
Madalyn is a math teacher at Dreher High School and also the eSports coordinator for Richland One School District. She holds two master’s degrees—one in Teaching and another in Trauma-Informed Education.
Outside of her professional life, Madalyn enjoys spending time with her husband, Robert, and their two dogs and one cat. In her free time, she loves playing video games, anything from Elden Ring to Stardew Valley, further fueling her enthusiasm for fostering connections through eSports.
